Since a very early age, Kait has had an affinity towards horses. This passion grew from a first pony ride, to childhood obsession, to finally cultivating a career with horses at the center. This equine focus, although not shared by her family, was fostered by them. Kait took every working opportunity that came her way, from cleaning stalls, to grooming, to climbing on unstarted babies and more, always eager to learn. This enthusiasm allowed her to get the most from every interaction that presented itself, and the knowledge she absorbed has helped to shape the horse person she is today. The welfare of the animal is always paramount, and Kait is a firm believer in the horse having input in their discipline of choice. The horses always perform best at a job they enjoy.
In 2008, at the youngest age eligible, Kait Webster was certified through the American Riding Instructor’s Association. This is a well respected, national association for instructors whose “purpose is to promote excellence in the profession of horseback riding instruction, based on he principles of Safety, Knowledge, and Integrity, with the health, happiness, and well-being of students and horses being of primary concern.” Kait participated in the USDF L Program and completed parts A and B, and C. She hopes to participate in the next L program part 2 in an effort to further her personal education so as to better help her students and horses pursue their competitive goals.
This past few years Kait had the opportunity to ride in some very helpful clinics with FEI**** (4-star) trainer Agnieszka Majewska. She was also selected as a rider for the WNYDA sponsored educational symposium at Houghton College with FEI***** (5-star) trainer Janet Foy. Most recently she cliniced with Tina Irwin, the Pan American gold medalist.
Kait is active in the local horse community and currently sponsors some awards for local shows particularly a reoccurring award for WNYDA incentivizing the re-training of off the track thoroughbreds for dressage. She has also sponsored similar awards for other local show series and is currently serving as the President for the Western New York Dressage Association.
